Responsibilities

• Process and track medical record requests from attorneys, law firms, patients, and other authorized parties.
• Gather and organize medical records and billing information for personal injury cases.
• Review patient accounts to ensure billing information is complete and accurate.
• Prepare billing affidavits and supporting documentation for personal injury and legal cases.
• Complete affidavit forms using patient account and billing information.
• Review medical bills for accuracy and ensure all applicable charges are included.
• Scan and post legal payments to patient accounts accurately and timely.
• Review legal settlement payments and supporting documentation to ensure payments are posted to the correct patient account.
• Maintain documentation related to legal payments and account activity.
• Communicate with attorneys and legal offices regarding medical records, billing statements, affidavits, payments, and documentation requests.
• Track outstanding records, affidavits, and payment-related requests and follow up as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of requests, completed documents, payments, and correspondence.
• Ensure documents and payment information are processed within required deadlines.
• Handle confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and office policies.
• Assist with other medical records, billing, and administrative duties as needed.

Requirements:

 

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical office, medical records, billing, or administrative role preferred.
• Experience working with personal injury cases, attorneys, or law firms is a plus.
• Medical billing experience preferred.
• Experience posting payments is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical records and patient account information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and understand medical bills and account information.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple requests at the same time.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
