Key Responsibilities of the CT Technologist

• Perform computed tomography scanning procedures with precision and independent judgment
• Operate control console and peripheral equipment required for CT scanning
• Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment
• Position patients and adjust immobilization devices for optimal imaging views
• Provide patient explanations and support to alleviate anxieties
• Apply radiographic safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure
• Evaluate images for technical quality and maintain adequate records
• Assist physicians with the administration of radiographic contrast media
• Adhere to hospital policies, including infection control and safety standards
• Engage in professional development activities and maintain necessary certifications

Requirements of the CT Technologist

• High school graduate or GED
• Graduation from an AMA Accredited Radiography Program
• Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Control
• Certification from an accredited CT program or current registration in CT by ARRT
• 3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist OR 1 year of recent CT Tech experience
• Current BLS certification
