As the New Construction Senior Systems Engineer you will be on a dynamic team providing technical and programmatic support to the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program (PMS450) and the U.S. Navy's Team Submarine Program Offices! Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact on our military defense and safety of our sailors and contribute and influence the Navy's future, premier nuclear submarines.
Team Submarine unites the Program Executive Officer, Undersea Warfare Systems (PEO UWS); the Deputy Commander, Undersea Technology (SEA 07); Program Executive Officer, Attack Submarine (PEO SSN); Program Executive Officer, Strategic Subs (PEO SSBN) and the Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning, and Procurement (SUBMEPP) Activity, once diverse submarine-related commands and activities, into a single "submarine-centric" team. Conceived to increase efficiencies within the submarine acquisition, maintenance, and modernization communities, Team Submarine eliminates traditional "stovepipe" structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.
The Virginia Class Submarine Program (PMS450) is responsible for the design, construction, certification, and delivery of Virginia Class Submarines. Virginia Class Submarines (VCS) are built to seek out and destroy enemy ships/submarines, working both independently and in concert with carrier strike groups/other ships, providing Joint Commanders with early, accurate knowledge of the battlefield; covert striking power against targets ashore; and the maritime strength to destroy enemy naval forces and interdict seaborne commerce. U.S. Navy submarines ARE the undersea advantage against our adversaries.
In this role, you will:
Support various NEWCON development and certification activities for NEWCON Virginia Class Submarines.
Lead the System Integration Team (SIT) providing technical directions to engineering teams.
Support overseeing systems designs and requirements management
Assist the test and evaluation processes
Review and approve engineering deliverables.
Support the Technical Director as the systems engineering subject matter expert.
Facilitate discussions and communications relating to system designs among stakeholders on program status and goals to improve alignment of program achievements within DoW acquisition processes.
Interface between PMS 450 and various stakeholders and respond to internal and external technical analysis inquiries.
Participate in and support internal and external meetings and briefings to resolve complex technical issues.
Manage oversight of tasking and execution, including associated issue resolution; execution of certification processes and ensure technical and administrative review of technical correspondence complies with the requirements.
Ensure individual Standard Operating Procedures are maintained to clearly document the routing, review, concurrence, approval process and authority for deliverables.
Attend monthly technical group Integration team meetings.
Maintain VCS certification Objective Quality Evidence to support design certification for NEWCON builds.
Serve as a technical or engineering consultant in all matters pertaining to development, configuration management, and design certification.
Apply root cause analysis techniques to fundamentally understand and resolve issues.
Brief senior leadership and make recommendations based upon solutions you have developed or coordinated.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Active or Current DoD Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor's degree in technical field (engineering, physics, etc).
A High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional experience, or an Associate's degree and 2 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
15 years of experience.
Excellent communications and analytical skills.
Ability to meet with program officials and influence actions needed to meet technical program milestones.
Experience briefing senior leaders.
Proficient with MS Office products i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Ability to travel up to 10%.
Additional Desired Education and Experience Requirements:
Navy Fleet submarine operational experience.
Technical knowledge of SUBSAFE program.
U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School & NPTU Prototype Training.
10 years of experience with Navy acquisition and Submarine Programs.
Experience leading a project and interfacing with an end item customer.
Active-Duty Experience in the submarine service preferred.
Recent experience in Team Submarine would be ideal.
Submarine Engineering experience is a plus.
US Navy experience in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Experience supporting a submarine acquisition program.
Typical technical or engineering experience and expertise in working with the DoW acquisition programs and processes.
A mastery of electrical engineering principles in the development or operation of naval ships/submarines, ship systems, or subsystems.
Experience in developing technical standards.
Engineering and acquisition fundamentals, as well as expertise with undersea shipbuilding programs.
Strong quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Ability to facilitate and coordinate efforts with key government and non-government stakeholders.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
