Inventory Control Analyst IThe Inventory Control Analyst I is an entry level professional role responsible for supporting inventory accuracy, visibility, and control through data analysis, reporting, and process support. This position assists in monitoring inventory transactions, investigating variances, and maintaining inventory records to support operational efficiency and financial integrity. Work is closely supervised and emphasizes learning inventory management principles, systems, and analytical skills.Role OverviewThe Inventory Control Analyst I supports inventory control activities by collecting and analyzing inventory data, assisting with cycle counts and reconciliations, and preparing routine inventory reports. Tasks are clearly defined and performed using established procedures, systems, and control frameworks. The role collaborates with Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Manufacturing, Finance, and IT teams to ensure accurate inventory records and compliance with inventory policies. The position typically reports to an Inventory Control Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Operations Manager, or similar leader.Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Data & Analysis SupportAssist with monitoring inventory levels, movements, and transactionsAnalyze routine inventory data to identify discrepancies, trends, or anomaliesSupport investigation of inventory variances and assist with root-cause identificationValidate data accuracy across inventory and ERP systemsInventory Control & ReconciliationAssist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliationsCompare physical counts to system records and document variancesSupport resolution of inventory discrepancies under guidanceMaintain inventory records in accordance with established controls and proceduresReporting & DocumentationPrepare routine inventory reports, dashboards, and variance summariesUpdate inventory logs, trackers, and control documentationEnsure timely and accurate documentation of inventory activitiesSupport audit readiness by maintaining organized inventory recordsProcess Adherence & ComplianceFollow inventory control policies, procedures, and internal controlsSupport compliance with financial, operational, and audit requirementsEscalate issues outside defined guidelines to supervisionMaintain integrity and confidentiality of inventory and financial dataCollaboration & LearningWork with warehouse, production, procurement, and finance teams to gather inventory informationCommunicate findings and questions clearly to team members and supervisorsParticipate in training related to inventory systems, processes, and controlsBuild foundational knowledge of inventory management and supply chain operationsScope & ImpactImpact is limited to assigned inventory analysis and support activities. Contributes to inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial reliability.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations, or related field required. Internship or coursework exposure to inventory, supply chain, or data analysis preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic understanding of inventory management or supply chain concepts. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work with data, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools. Ability to follow defined procedures and work instructions. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with ERP systems or inventory software preferred.
