Responsibilities & Qualifications Novelis is seeking an Associate Operations Leader to support our Can Business Unit in Warren, OH. This role is responsible for leading a manufacturing shift in a fast-paced slitting and coating operation.The Team Leader plays a critical role in driving safety, operational excellence, quality, and team performance, while supervising a crew of approximately 12–20 hourly employees. This position works rotating shifts and serves as the on-shift leader for production operations.ResponsibilitiesSafety & CompliancePromote and maintain a safe work environment at all timesMonitor crew behaviors and plant conditions to address risks proactivelyParticipate in accident investigations and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) initiativesAdminister first aid as neededOperations & LeadershipLead daily production activities to meet operational targetsDirect and support hourly employees on shiftManage scheduling, overtime, vacations, and attendanceEnsure accurate production reporting and documentationTroubleshoot downtime, equipment, and quality issuesCoordinate closely with Maintenance on repairs and preventive maintenanceQuality & Customer FocusEnsure adherence to process control plans and quality standardsAddress and communicate product or process concernsReinforce accountability for product quality with team membersContinuous Improvement & UtilizationDrive improvements in machine performance and efficiencyIdentify preventative maintenance opportunitiesPartner with operators, maintenance, and engineering to enhance processesRecovery & Waste ReductionReduce material loss and improve yieldMonitor processes to prevent quality issues and production disruptionsDelivery PerformanceSupport on-time production and customer needsCommunicate production risks and constraints effectivelyAdhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.Authority & Decision-MakingThis position has authority to make real-time decisions related to:Employee safety and immediate risk mitigationStaffing and disciplinary actionsProduction quality and delivery performanceProvide recommendations for:Equipment and process improvementsSafety and quality enhancementsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent5 years of Manufacturing environment experienceUnion environment experienceStrong leadership and team management abilitiesExcellent communication (verbal and written)Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes and systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systemsAbility to handle employee relations matters professionally and fairlyWork Environment & ScheduleRotating shift schedule (including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed)Must be available for off-hours support and emergency calls when requiredPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s DegreeMinimum 5 years of supervisory experiencePlease note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. The facility built in 1965 applies coating to rolled aluminum beverage can sheet. The sheet is used to make aluminum beverage can ends (lids) for global soft drink beer and sparkling water brands. Warren showcases several high-end cultural venues including the Warren Community Amphitheater and Packard Music Hall.
