Physical Therapist

Summary

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive physical therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment plan development and implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning. The role actively contributes to clinical aspects of the department, including program development, department operations, and performance improvement activities. This position also involves supervising and coordinating the Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs.

Responsibilities

• Conducts thorough diagnostic evaluations to assess the physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients, considering diagnosis and specific age-related needs.
• Develops and implements individualized treatment plans with patient and family involvement, incorporating measurable goals and methods to achieve those goals.
• Maintains consistent adherence to policies and procedures regarding documentation, including initial patient evaluations, daily and weekly progress notes, discharge summaries, and other necessary records.
• Actively participates in patient care conferences, family meetings, in-service programs, and departmental meetings.
• Provides counseling to patients, families, and other stakeholders regarding evaluations, care, and treatment, ensuring timely discharge planning and effective education.
• Assists with coordination and supervision of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs, along with volunteer initiatives.
• Supports clinical operations by orienting new associates, scheduling patients for optimal coverage, and ensuring adequate staff supervision.
• Demonstrates commitment to the organization's core values and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Strives to develop creative and efficient methods to maintain departmental productivity standards.
• Maintains awareness of community resources to facilitate appropriate referrals and enhance knowledge of support services.
• Identifies and provides educational opportunities for self, colleagues, and the community, engaging in research activities as needed.
• Exhibits competence in patient care responsibilities, addressing the specific developmental and age-related needs of patients.
• Adjusts assessment and treatment methods to accommodate individual patient requirements, including physical, psychological, cultural, and developmental factors.
• Fosters positive and professional relationships with healthcare team members and referral sources.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency in utilizing the modalities and equipment specific to physical therapy as outlined by relevant governing boards.

Experience

No prior experience is required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current Physical Therapist Licensure in New Mexico.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Successful completion of pre-employment and annual health screening examinations is mandatory.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with work hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
