Assistant District Attorney Prosecutorial District 7, Hancock and Washington Counties Opening Date: 5/20/2026 Closing Date: 6/04/2026 Class Code: 0206 Position Number: 006100025 Grade: 1 Salary: $71,843.20 - $139,110.40/year (salary competitive and based upon qualifications) District 7 (Hancock County and Washington County) District Attorney’s Office is seeking a full‑time Assistant District Attorney. The Assistant District Attorney will be primarily responsible for criminal prosecutions in the Unified Criminal Court in Hancock County as well as appellate cases before the Law Court. ADAs may occasionally handle conflict cases in our Washington County Offices. Minimum Qualifications Candidates should have a strong desire for a career in litigation. Trial experience and developed trial skills are a plus. High ethical standards, sound judgment, discretion, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organizational/time‑management skills are essential. Candidates must be members of the Maine Bar and in good standing. Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Pre‑tax money to help pay for out‑of‑pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses. Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness – Qualified employer for this federal program. Income‑Driven Repayment Plans – Available with the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan. John R. Justice (JRJ) Formula Grant Program – Partial loan repayment directly to employee’s loan service provider. Living Resources Program – Employee assistance program.
