Join our team as we help shape the future.The Hartford Global Financial Lines Cyber and Technology Team currently has an open claim professional position. As a Cyber and Technology claims professional, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of first party and third party Cyber and Technology claims, from inception to final disposition. As these claims are often in litigation, experience handling litigated matters through resolution and managing defense counsel is required.Responsibilities include all aspects of claim file management from assignment to conclusion including:Conducting investigations and analyzing and evaluating the information learnedAppropriately and accurately analyzing and determining coverage, liability and damages based upon the facts of each claimOn first party cyber claims: investigate cyber security incidents, determine the cause of the network intrusion, and work quickly with customers, law firms and vendors to mitigate the effects of the cyber security incident and coordinate an appropriate responseWhen responding to active cyber incidents, claim handler must act quickly to assist and respond to urgent customer needs.Communicating timely written position(s) to insured and other required parties on coverage, liability damages and other issuesSetting appropriate expense and indemnity reserves and monitoring on a regular basis for any needed adjustmentPresenting cases to management for expense or indemnity reserve authority above established authority levelsDeveloping and implementing resolution strategies through negotiations to achieve high quality outcomesProactively managing litigation and counsel, inclusive of litigation planning and execution, budgeting, and bill reviewUnderstanding and analyzing potential extra-contractual liability as neededAttending trials and mediations as necessaryContributing to broader claim and enterprise goals by participating in audits, projects, training, and product development initiativesPreparing comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, industry trends, etc.Providing support and working collaboratively with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developmentsAddressing inquiries from agents and policyholders, providing superior customer serviceProviding key training and marketing support to UnderwritersAttend and present at various industry events each year on risk management and claims topics.QualificationsKnowledge of both first- and third-party claims a plusBachelor's degree required; Juris Doctorate degree preferredMinimum of three years handling litigated coverage and/or liability cases as defense counsel or claims handler specifically in the following areas: Cyber & Technology, Privacy and Data Breaches, Media Liability and Professional Liability with a proven track record of experience in the handling of Cyber & Technology liability claimsCandidate should be disciplined, results-oriented and able to focus on bottom line resultsCandidates Should Demonstrate The FollowingExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent strategic thinking ability and execution skillsExcellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills; knowledge of insurance coverage issues a plusSuperior time, task prioritization and desk management skillsAn ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely, and to influence and persuade othersAbility to work with only moderate amount of supervision and employ a "team player" attitudeThis role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL, Alpharetta, GA) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
