Substitute Teacher (2026-2027 School Year) Please Review Before Submitting a Substitute Teaching Application Report to: Campus Principal or Secretary Job Goal: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher. Job Responsibilities Report to school office at the beginning of the school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials. Instruct students and manage their behavior. Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district. Present subject matter according to lesson plans and/or instructions left by the absent teacher. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, parents, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom; straighten chairs, tables, etc. Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures. Ensure that students are never left unattended in the classroom. Know emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned. Know school procedures and regulations. Leave detailed notes for the day's activities including classroom/individual behavioral incidents, progress in completing the lesson, and attendance notes for the absent teacher. Perform other related duties as directed by the principal. Note: Complaints made by a school principal about a substitute teacher may result in the removal of the substitute from the Substitute List. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Fingerprinting. Background check. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Pay Information: Call the Superintendent's Office for pay scale information.
