Associate Director, Bruin Resource Center

Job Title

Reporting to the Director of the Bruin Resource Center (BRC), the Associate Director provides strategic leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that advance the mission of the BRC and UCLA Student Affairs.

The Associate Director independently establishes and advances short- and long-term priorities for program development, operational effectiveness, and assessment across the department's portfolio of programs serving historically underserved student communities. The Associate Director provides leadership and oversight for professional and student staff and manages key departmental resources, including operating budgets, personnel, space, technology, and operational systems, to ensure the effective delivery of programs and services.

In partnership with the Director, the Associate Director contributes to the strategic direction, policy development, and resource planning of the Bruin Resource Center and supports the advancement of divisional priorities related to student success, retention, campus climate, and student development. The Associate Director represents the department in campus-wide collaborations and committees and develops analyses, reports, and presentations that inform program strategy, policy development, and institutional practices that support student well-being and belonging.

The role also provides leadership for departmental training and professional development initiatives for BRC staff, including programs focused on operations, compliance, leadership development, safety, and skill-building. The Associate Director regularly provides the Director with strategic recommendations, operational updates, and program evaluations to strengthen departmental effectiveness, staff development, and continuous improvement.

Salary & Compensation: UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications:

• 4-5 years of relevant experience. (Required)
• Working knowledge of student development theory and higher education practices related to student retention, persistence, and student success. (Required)
• Experience developing and implementing programs or initiatives that support student engagement, leadership development, and academic success. (Required)
• Experience working with historically underserved student populations in a higher education, student services, or community-based setting. (Required)
• Working knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles as applied to student support programs and campus climate initiatives. (Required)
• Experience supervising professional or student staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development. (Required)
• Experience developing program goals, operational plans, and program assessment strategies using qualitative or quantitative data. (Required)
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives, allocate resources, and meet project deadlines in a dynamic organizational environment. (Required)
• Ability to analyze complex organizational or student service challenges and develop practical programmatic or operational solutions. (Required)
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners. (Required)
• Ability to prepare written reports, policy recommendations, and professional presentations for campus leadership and diverse stakeholder groups. (Required)
• Experience monitoring and reconciling departmental budgets, including tracking expenditures and preparing financial reports. (Preferred)
• Experience coordinating cross-campus initiatives or collaborative programs that involve multiple departments or stakeholders. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations:

• Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration or Education or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
