Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support design and delivery of fire protection and life safety systems for complex building projects. The position is based in Cleveland or Columbus, Ohio and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across multiple market sectors.Why AECOM Ohio B+P?Our Ohio Buildings + Places team—based in Columbus and Cleveland—is one of AECOM’s most established and respected practices. We deliver integrated design solutions across workplace, healthcare, federal, education, mission‑critical, and advanced technology markets, with a strong focus on quality, performance, and collaboration.The role provides exposure to a broad range of facilities, including federal and DoD installations, laboratories and cleanrooms, aviation and transportation infrastructure, higher education, cultural facilities, historic renovations, and industrial/manufacturing sites.The engineer will contribute to the analysis, design, and documentation of code-compliant fire protection systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards and International Building and Fire Codes.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform defined portions of fire protection engineering assignments under the supervision of senior engineers.Collect, analyze, and correlate engineering data using established procedures and standards.Prepare calculations and technical documentation for routine fire protection and life safety systems.Assist in the development of engineering approaches for non-standard design challenges.Identify and resolve discrepancies in calculations, drawings, or design outputs.Provide technical guidance to entry-level staff as needed.Execute work in accordance with project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 2+ years of relevant fire protection or related engineering experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or experience.U.S. citizenship.Valid driver’s license.Preferred QualificationsExperience using Revit and AutoCAD.Working knowledge of NFPA standards and International Building and Fire Codes.Experience in the design of fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.Additional InformationU.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.About AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
