Instructor - Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Instructor Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) – Baton Rouge, Louisiana Full‑time faculty members are responsible for teaching courses as assigned, student advisement, and involvement in student‑related activities. They contribute to college and community service, pursue professional development, and promote a collegial atmosphere. Faculty report directly to the department chair within their respective departments and divisions. Faculty may teach in the evening, on weekends, online, and in dual‑enrollment courses as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Teach the equivalent of five (5) courses per semester (fall and spring) Adhere to college policies and procedures Adapt teaching strategies and technologies to meet diverse learning needs of students Notify department chair of absence with a course substitution plan in a timely manner Maintain accurate grade and attendance records Submit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlines Develop and revise curriculum Discuss with Dean of Students office and other appropriate personnel any student problems which may require special attention Advise student and perform special assigned duties related to registration Access learning outcomes and demonstrate the use of the results in course planning Serve on college‑wide committees Attend all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings Attend college convocations and participate in graduation exercise (attired in appropriate academic regalia) Request supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment Use instructional and technical resources such as the library, the ALC, CANVAS, and computer technology as appropriate Engage in continual professional development activities in order to stay current in the faculty area of expertise Meet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe Maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week Demonstrate respect for diversity Adhere to professional standards of conduct Promote the image of the college in the community Participate in the faculty evaluation process May serve as faculty advisor to student organizations and interact with students outside the classroom environment via extra‑curricular activities May participate in the development of proposals for obtaining grant funds to support departmental and college‑related activities Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Experience College level teaching experience Preferred Education PhD in Criminal Justice Benefits As a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, BRCC offers an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
