The SDRs are charged with enforcing their duties: responsibly, proficiently and professionally. The SDR is responsible for the safety of University students, staff and faculty members, visitors, and the campus and property of the University. SDRs provide security at designated posts, enforce University policies, and document incidents occurring on campus and/or involving members of the La Salle Community. The Office of Public Safety is a 24 hour/day, 365 day/year operation. Public Safety Officers are considered essential personnel and are assigned to an eight-hour shift.Essential Duties - Security, monitoring and controlling entry and exit in University facilities. Observing and controlling individuals and materials entering and leaving University facilities. Positioning oneself at or near the entrance of the University facilities. Observing individuals as they enter and leave the facilities. Confronting individuals who may not be permitted to enter University facilities, or who are attempting to leave University facilities with University property without proper authorization. File required reports as necessary. Maintain professional uniform and grooming standards. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.Secondary Responsibilities - Works safely without presenting a direct threat to you or to others. Attend roll call, workshops and training sessions as required. May perform other tasks as directed or assigned by Supervisor or Security management.# of Direct Reports - 0Required Qualifications - High School diploma or equivalent. Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, internet search software, and function specific databases. Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, departmental radio system, or in a person-to-person setting. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts.Preferred Qualifications - 2 years of security experience Valid driver's license Knowledge of safety and security issues within a higher education settingPhysical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours - Must be capable of standing or sitting for extended periods of time.Special Instructions to Applicant - All Public Safety Security Desk Receptionist positions are represented by the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) and are subject to the terms and conditions of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
