Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist Job Category : Environmental Health and Safety This role supports both the Elgin and Huntley facilities in partnership with a Safety counterpart who also oversees both locations. While responsible for a broad range of EHS activities, this position has a strong environmental focus , serving as the primary resource for environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, waste management, air and water permitting, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement efforts. The successful candidate ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and partner with site leadership to promote a culture of environmental responsibility while supporting overall safety performance across both facilities. This position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organizationbyassisting in planning and implementing an EHS Excellenceprogram while ensuring compliance with all state, federal and local governmental EHS regulations. Wage: $80,000 - $95,000 Essential Duties and Tasks To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Designs and implements safety and environmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, written programs, recordkeeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations by staying informed about changes, interpreting requirements, and implementing necessary adjustments to programs, processes, and policies. Deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels, to ensure employees’ knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to all facilities. Conduct and document regular EHS audits and inspections as needed to assure compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and requirements. Coordinate visits from internal and external regulatory authorities and file annual local,stateand federal environmental reports potentially including air, waste, water, Tier II, and Form R. Assist site safety committee with inspections to assess compliance with policies and regulations, identifying, determining, and implementing, corrective and preventative measures for areas with existing or potential accident and health hazards. Manages workers compensation cases and EHS programs, including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/ reduction, safety behavior audit, and risk assessmentprograms Assist with the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations. Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance by evaluating existing programs, identifying areas for enhancement, and coordinating development of and EHS improvement strategic plan, collaborating with site managers. Analyze safety history, manufacturing processes, product machinery, and chemical exposures to determine safety hazards, identify trends, and develop safety strategies to correct and prevent potential accidents or health hazards. All other duties asassigned Qualifications, Education and Experience BSrequiredin a relatedfield Certifications required/preferred includeCertified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM),Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP),Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) 6-8 years' experience in a related field This position has no leadershipduties , butis a subject matter in a particular field. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio,Outlook email and calendar. Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information. Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients. Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems andneeds anddevelop solutions and/or options.
