Staff RN Maternity

The Registered Nurse in the Maternity unit is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individualized patient care using the nursing process. This role involves providing quality nursing care to maternity patients, administering medications and treatments safely, educating patients and families, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The nurse will also direct and delegate tasks to nursing assistants and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. A valid Ohio RN license and Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification are required. Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for maternity patients according to established care pathways.
• Provide patient and family education from admission through discharge.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, implementing physician orders as written.
• Document nursing care thoroughly, accurately, and legibly.
• Notify physicians of pertinent observations and patient status changes promptly.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of equipment and supplies for patient care.
• Supervise and direct the work of nursing assistants professionally.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and report unsafe conditions.
• Demonstrate empathy, integrity, stewardship, agility, teamwork, and commitment to quality and safety.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.

• Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
• CPR certification.
• Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Minimum of previous Registered Nursing experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Experience in maternity or related nursing specialties.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and make independent decisions.

• Must be able to exert physical effort consistent with heavy work, including frequent patient handling.
• Ability to regulate emotions, remain calm under pressure, and communicate empathetically.
• Supervision and delegation of nursing assistants required.
• Work environment includes potential exposure to electrical equipment and urgent patient care situations.

• Full-time night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Occasional weekend shifts required.
