Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, excellent time management, and strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed and knowledgeable of the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient and support service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the Nursing Process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in clinical care. They use evidence-based practice and analytical thinking ensuring that care is individualized. Patient-centered care is always prioritized, adapting service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. The RN partners with patients and significant others through appropriate communication methods. They practice using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. They communicate effectively using diverse methods and complete timely documentation. Demonstrating teamwork, the RN practices in a fiscally responsible manner. They support performance improvement and participate in shared governance at all levels. Professional Development: The RN completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. They may serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and students. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice and actively participates in quality improvement initiatives. They uphold all policies, procedures, and clinical competencies of the organization. The RN engages in relevant data collection and utilizes evidence-based resources to address practice questions. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum while delivering direct patient care. They may participate in developing protocols and procedures in collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN supports the effective use of resources in their practice. They perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and standards.
