Trial Attorney (Health Care Fraud)

Salary: $125,776 – $197,200 per year.

Responsibilities

• Independently direct, conduct, and monitor investigations related to health care fraud.
• Prepare and conduct trials, advise on pleadings, and file court documents.
• Engage in all phases of investigation and litigation, including grand jury work and advising federal law‑enforcement agents.
• Make charging decisions and propose dispositions for assigned cases.
• Collaborate with managers to develop and maintain programs that foster effective investigation and prosecution of health‑care‑fraud violations, advising on strategy, legal complexities, litigation priorities, policy and legislative recommendations.

Qualifications

Required

• J.D. or equivalent degree, licensed to practice as an attorney in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia, and an active member of the bar in good standing.

Grade‑Specific Requirements

• GS‑14: At least 2.5 years post‑J.D. legal experience, including one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑13 (e.g., legal analysis, pleading preparation, or civil/criminal litigation).
• GS‑15: At least 4 years post‑J.D. legal experience, including one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑14 (e.g., independent legal analysis, complex civil/criminal litigation, or leading staff).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a criminal prosecutor.
• Experience with civil or criminal health‑care‑fraud matters.
• Knowledge of white‑collar criminal litigation.
• Experience supporting, litigating, and supervising federal or state criminal cases.
• Experience in U.S. District Court or state court.
• Experience with the federal judiciary.
