HVAC Technician

This position is responsible for providing HVAC services identifying repair and replacement needs. This position is expected to install, maintain, repair, and upgrade HVAC systems. This position is part of the maintenance team and reports to the lead HVAC.

Primary duties/responsibilities include:

• Cleaning air conditioning and heating units ensuring units are operating within safety guidelines.
• Coordinating with assigned lead/supervisor and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Documenting activities and conveying information through written reports.
• Fabricating equipment parts meeting specialty needs and replacing unavailable parts.
• Identifying causes of problems and failures in HVAC systems.
• Informing the team regarding procedures, status of work orders, and providing necessary information for making decisions complying with standards and regulations.
• Installing HVAC equipment and systems providing enhanced capabilities.
• Maintaining equipment, facilities, tools, and vehicle ensuring safe operating condition.
• Monitoring equipment, facilities, and tools condition and recommending maintenance and repairs.
• Participating in meetings, trainings, seminars, and workshops.
• Performing routine and preventive maintenance ensuring ongoing functioning of HVAC systems.
• Removing snow from parking lots and sidewalks ensuring safety for vehicles and people.
• Repairing HVAC components and systems ensuring a comfortable work environment.
• Requesting and transporting equipment, supplies, and tools for job sites.
• Responding to afterhours and emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concern.

Education and experience requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent combined with on-the-job/technical training required.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
• Highly collaborative team player.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios.
• Firm adherence to safety practices.

Physical requirements include:

This position requires the performance of heavy work which may include exerting up to 100 pounds of force, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position involves all environmental working conditions which include but not limited to extreme cold/heat, close quarters, hazards, loud noises, and vibration. The position also requires frequent balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, talking, and walking. The position also requires occasional fingering and repetitive motion.
