RN: Nurse Manager

Job Description Step into a key clinical leadership role at a scenic rural hospital in Chamberlain, South Dakota, where you will guide nursing services across multiple departments. This travel contract supports the organization as it transitions after the current Director of Nursing plans to retire. Reporting to the Senior Director, you will oversee approximately 80 staff members (with a dedicated administrative assistant) and help maintain high standards of clinical operations, program execution, and alignment with organizational strategy. You will lead and coordinate nursing services spanning ER, Med Surg, OR, OB, Critical Care, Ambulatory Care, Trauma, Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory, Tele Respiratory, Telehealth services, and more—supporting a rural health network that serves local reservations and surrounding counties. Day-to-day, the role emphasizes leadership across departments with a majority of activity in ER, Med Surg, OB, and Critical Care, along with continued expansion of Telehealth services for community access. For the OR schedule, surgeries occur Monday and Tuesday, and the on‑call surgical team typically handles C‑sections when needed 24/7. Shared call is handled through a rotation among clinical nursing leaders along with the DON, supporting work‑life balance and helping ensure the Director is not fielding questions around the clock.
