Master's Degree preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge and experience in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans, and equipment. Knowledge of athletic training treatments and modalities. Valid driver's license required for travel to various locations in the immediate area. Description: Under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider, the Physical Therapist manages the needs of the patient within a clinic setting. Provides athletic training intervention by reviewing, revising, and implementing techniques or discharging athletic training services as deemed appropriate. Practices according to the standards of professional practice and complies with all legal requirements regulating the practice of athletic training. Reports to department leadership. Performs appropriate patient intake to determine medical history, chief complaint, and risk factors. Conducts physical examinations to establish a diagnosis and prognosis prior to intervention. Communicates all pertinent information to the physician, advanced practice provider, parent, physical therapist, and other staff as appropriate. Develops and implements injury and illness prevention strategies for athletes and the physically active. Establishes a plan of care for athletes in consultation with the supervising physician or advanced practice provider. Manages the needs of the patient based on examination, diagnosis, prognosis, goals, and outcomes of the planned interventions for identified impairments. Applies splints, braces, or casts as appropriate, assesses for proper fit and support, and educates the patient or parent on appropriate wear, care, and signs or symptoms of concern. Maintains clinic flow by directing support staff to ensure patient and parent satisfaction, patient safety, quality of care, and efficiency of clinic operations. Educates students and parents regarding injury or disease management including, but not limited to, use of assistive devices, use of splints or braces, exercise or activity recommendations and limitations, healthy lifestyle behaviors, and proper nutrition for the physically active. Assists administrative staff as needed with diagnostic scheduling, rescheduling of patients, and surgery scheduling. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
