Building Superintendent

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Director of Building Services and the supervisory team, the Building Superintendent will perform a variety of duties to assist in the maintenance and repair of academic and dormitory facilities. Service and clean laundry rooms, recreation rooms, offices, classrooms, and common areas. Vacuum, dust, wash walls, furniture, glass, and partitions. Replace light bulbs and empty recycling bins and trash. Service restrooms by filling soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and sanitary napkin dispensers. Mop up water, leaks, and spills. Unplug sinks and unclog toilets. Open and close buildings and keep entryways accessible. Sweep debris off stairs and sidewalks in front of buildings, shovel snow, and apply ice melt. Put away delivered stock items such as cases of toilet paper, paper towels, and soap in the stockroom. Assist in setting up staging, tables, and chairs for university functions. Move and set up furniture. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Job description subject to change based upon University needs and demands. Qualifications Valid driver’s license for the state of residence and DOT certificate. Effective communication skills with workers, supervisors/directors, and all levels of the organization. Ability to perform manual labor, including frequent lifting/carrying/transporting loads up to 50 lb. Capacity to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging, etc. Availability for overtime beyond the normal workday, including mandatory overtime and weekends as required by the Director of Building Services. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Ability to follow directions. Other Requirements Ninety days after employment, employees are required to become a member of Union Local 32BJ, District 615. Position requires a criminal background check. Permanent membership on the Snow Team is required. 40-hour work week - schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Benefits Base Pay Rate: $30.41 per hour.
