• Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Gastroenterology.

Our Digestive Health Institute is recognized both nationally and internationally for providing comprehensive and coordinated services to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide array of conditions affecting the digestive system and gastrointestinal organs, including complex cases. Led by esteemed specialists in digestive health, the institute has gained global recognition for offering numerous diagnostic and treatment options that are typically available only at the most advanced centers. This includes the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that enhance diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. The institute is expanding its reach with a new state-of-the-art facility in downtown Orlando and several conveniently located satellite sites within our healthcare system.

As part of an integrated healthcare system, we have partnered with a nationally recognized, physician-led practice to deliver exceptional healthcare to the communities of Polk County and its surroundings. The strengths of this collaboration will be highlighted with the opening of the Lakeland Highlands Hospital in summer 2026.

Throughout the new facility, the collaborative spirit between our organizations will be evident. Experts from both entities have played a significant role in the planning process, including the design of the hospital, selection of next-generation technologies, and development of a comprehensive range of specialized programs and services, including cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, obstetrics, surgery, and surgical oncology.

This cutting-edge facility will feature over 300 inpatient beds, 69 emergency and observation beds, 11 operating rooms, four cardiac and interventional suites, and an intensive care unit with 18 beds that will expand to 36 as the facility grows. The hospital will provide a wide array of surgical and procedural services across multiple specialties. A robust cardiovascular program will offer diagnostic cardiology services at launch, with plans to add PCI care shortly thereafter, progressing to include structural heart disease and advanced electrophysiology (EP) programs. With a strong emphasis on neurology, particularly stroke and spine care, the hospital is expected to achieve primary stroke center status soon after opening, with plans for a comprehensive stroke center to follow. A full obstetrical unit will also be available from day one, featuring eight labor and delivery rooms, two designated C-section operating rooms, and over 25 postpartum rooms. A 12-bed neonatal intensive care unit will be introduced shortly after the hospital opens.
