You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation for a more connected, compassionate world.About the RoleAs a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of cutting-edge medical devices for people with diabetes. You will leverage your expertise in analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller system architecture, and advanced power management to help bring innovative solutions to market. This position requires a hands-on engineer who is passionate about quality, patient safety, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges.Key Responsibilities:Research and implement state-of-the-art technologies to enhance product features, improve reliability and device size (electronics miniaturization), optimize manufacturing throughput and lower costParticipate in the design, development and test of ultra-low power analog, digital and RF circuits for diabetes focused medical devicesParticipate in PCB layout, place and route while following best practices for manufacturability, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC complianceSupport design and test of battery management circuits, including PMICs, fuel gauges, and wireless charging. Conduct power and energy analysis to ensure efficient device operation and maximize battery lifeSupport characterization test and troubleshooting activities of electronic PCBAsGenerate functional and test specificationsImplement Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) principles within the functional areaProvide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality, Reliability and ManufacturingWork under the guidance of a Principal level engineer, Project Engineer and/or Engineering ManagerRequired Knowledge and Experience:Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.May have practical knowledge of project management.Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.Nice to Have:Strong working knowledge of:Analog circuit design and simulationMicrocontroller system architectureLithium-ion battery design techniques including PMICs, fuel gauges, and protection circuits.Power and energy consumption analysisPCBA schematic capture, layout, fabrication and assemblyExperience with voltage regulators, RF and BLE communication, and digital circuit designDemonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including systems, embedded software, and mechanical engineeringExcellent communication, documentation, and leadership skillsExperience with FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, or other relevant medical device standardsExperience with low-power design and miniaturized electronicsFamiliarity with IPC-610 and design for manufacturability and test (DFM/DFT).Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium Designer, OrCAD)Benefits & CompensationMiniMed offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits packageAt MiniMed, we put people first. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location.
