Controller Spark Ops Metalworks is a growing, innovative metal manufacturing and fabrication company located in Fond du Lac. As our business continues to scale rapidly, we are creating an exciting new Controller role for a motivated accounting professional who wants to make a meaningful impact. This is a highly visible position with direct access to ownership and leadership, offering the opportunity to influence both day-to-day operations and the long-term direction of the company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, building processes and partnering with leadership to help guide a growing organization. The Opportunity As Controller, you will own the full accounting function while also serving as a strategic partner to ownership and leadership. There is no accounting staff supporting this role, so you will be directly involved in the daily accounting activities while also helping shape systems, controls and financial strategy as the company evolves. What You’ll Do Own and manage the full accounting cycle, including month‑end close and financial reporting Develop, improve and streamline accounting systems, reporting and processes Establish and maintain internal controls and document accounting policies and procedures Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze variances and clearly communicate insights to leadership Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial projections to support growth and operational efficiency Partner with leadership and ownership on strategic planning and decision‑making Research and recommend accounting and finance best practices Develop, implement and track KPIs to monitor company performance Manage cash flow and serve as the primary point of contact for banks and financial institutions Oversee vendor relationships and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Process payroll and oversee benefits administration Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations and the construction of a new facility Evaluate and recommend ERP and accounting software solutions aligned with the manufacturing industry Support the accounting and financial oversight for a few small sister companies under common ownership What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (Controller or senior‑level accounting experience preferred) Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus Strong business acumen with an interest in operational efficiency and best practices (lean, continuous improvement, etc.) Self‑motivated, organized and comfortable owning both the details and the big picture Someone who enjoys building, improving and taking initiative in a growing organization Why Join Spark Ops Metalworks Opportunity to work closely with ownership and leadership and directly influence company direction A hands‑on role with real responsibility, visibility and impact A collaborative team with a can‑do attitude and problem‑solving mindset A company that genuinely invests in and cares about its team members Exposure to exciting industries including entertainment, aerospace, automotive and defense The chance to build and lead the accounting and finance function as the organization grows Pride in being part of the region’s strong manufacturing backbone Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Spotlight Award Excellence in Product and Process Innovation and Small Business Manufacturer of the Year Wisconsin (SBA) Benefits 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Disability insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Job Type: Full-time Work Location: In person #J-18808-Ljbffr Socket.dev
