ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS \n
\n
1. Responds to requests for paramedic services from area departments in a timely and safe manner. \n
\n
\na. Assist with Diagnostic Imaging Department emergent events.\n
\n
\nb. Follows Massachusetts laws Chapter 89, Sect. 7 and Chapter 90, Sections 7, 13, 14, 16 and 17 regarding emergency driving.\n
\n
\nc. Located in Diagnostic Imaging areas at 2 Pond Park Hingham.\n
\n
2. Completes documentation and records according to department policy. \n
\n
\na. Run report will be completed accurately and legibly.\n
\n
\nb. Run report data will be entered into computer database accurately.\n
\n
\nc. The equipment checklist will be completed on every shift.\n
\n
\nd. All responses will be recorded in the trip log.\n
\n
\ne. Patient charges will be completed and submitted with each event report where treatment was provided.\n
\n
\nf. Patient refusals will be documented as they occur completing a trip sheet and refusal form.\n
\n
\ng. Narcotics will be signed off per policy.\n
\n
3. Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times. \n
\n
\na. Knows location and proper use of equipment.\n
\n
\nb. Restocks equipment within 30 minutes following run.\n
\n
\nc. Reports damaged or unsafe equipment to Manager upon problem identification.\n
\n
4. Renders pre-hospital medical care at the paramedic level. \n
\n
\na. Performs complete and accurate patient assessments.\n
\n
\nb. Adheres to Region IV treatment protocols and procedures and carries out medical control's orders within own scope of practice.\n
\n
\nc. Is proficient in all related ALS skills.\n
\n
\nd. Has a pleasant and professional manner with patients.\n
\n
\ne. Gives accurate, concise radio reports and adheres to established radio communication protocols.\n
\n
\nf. Maintains sufficient knowledge of geography.\n
\n
5. Performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of the ED physicians. \n
\n
\na. Performs only those techniques within scope of training, under direction of Medical Control Physician.\n
\n
\nb. Assists with 12 Lead EKGs, blood draws, IV insertions.\n
\n
\nc. Charts skills done in-house according to appropriate policy.\n
\n
6. Acts as a team leader in dealing with emergency responses. \n
\n
\na. Demonstrates ability to control emergency scenes.\n
\n
\nb. Directs EMTs and other medical personnel on scene in the patient's best interest.\n
\n
\nc. Interacts with local EMTs and public safety, fire and police in a spirit of cooperation and professionalism.\n
\n
7. Takes proper care of vehicle and equipment. \n
\n
\na. Prevents loss or damage of equipment by careful handling and storage.\n
\n
\nb. Maintains equipment and vehicle according to policy.\n
\n
\nc. Keeps vehicle locked when unattended.\n
\n
8. Pursues new levels in Paramedicine technology and participates in activities which contribute to professional growth and development. \n
\n
\na. Maintains current certifications as required.\n
\n
\nb. Shares new information with fellow staff.\n
\n
\nc. Attends monthly staff meetings.\n
\n
\nd. Maintains a skill log for all skills done.\n
\n
9. Participates in community activities which improve the public's understanding of the EMS system. \n
\n
\na. Represents South Shore Health & Educational Corporation and the Department of Paramedic Services to the public in a positive, professional manner.\n
\n
\nb. Participates effectively in planned public relations events.\n
\n
JOB REQUIREMENTS \n
\n
Minimum Education - Preferred \n
\n
\nHigh School diploma or equivalent \n
\n
Minimum Work Experience \n
\nPrior experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting\n
\nCritical care experience preferred/ALS transfers\n
\n
Required Licenses \n
\n
\nVDL - Valid Drivers License\n
\nVerification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, at time of hire, with annual verification required thereafter.\n
\n
Required Certifications \n
\nEMT- P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic\n
\n
\nACLS - EMS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)\n
\nBLS - EMS (Basic Life Support)\n
Preferred (not required) Certifications \n
\nPALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support\n
\n
\nNRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program\n
\n
