Job description: Locations: Gainesville, GA or Jefferson, GAShift: 1st Shift | 7:30am 4:30pmCompensation: $75,000 $150,000 (based on experience)Reports To: Assistant ManagerEnvironment: Manufacturing | Office & Factory FloorEmployment Type: Fulltime Role OverviewWe are seeking a Controls Engineer to support and advance nextgeneration manufacturing automation across its North American operations. This role combines handson controls engineering, system integration, and continuous improvement, working directly on the factory floor to improve safety, productivity, reliability, and throughput.Youll partner closely with manufacturing, maintenance, IT, vendors, and leadership to design, deploy, and maintain robust automation and mechatronic systems that support our longterm manufacturing strategy. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize PLC programs (AllenBradley, Mitsubishi) for production equipmentEngineer, test, and commission new automation and mechatronic systemsTroubleshoot complex controls issues and support maintenance teams to reduce downtimePerform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement longterm fixesDevelop and maintain controls standards and best practices across the plantCreate detailed technical documentation (schematics, risk assessments, operator instructions)Manage automation and controls projects from concept through launch (scope, cost, timeline)Integrate automated systems with MES platforms in collaboration with ITWork with vendors to evaluate new technologies and automation solutionsSupport preventive maintenance strategy development for automated equipmentTrain manufacturing and maintenance teams on new systems and upgradesOccasionally support offshift or weekend activities as needed Core CompetenciesStrong technical communication (written & verbal)Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities with attention to detailCollaborative, teamoriented mindsetSelfmotivated with openness to feedbackProficiency with Microsoft Office toolsFlexible and responsive to production and project demands Preferred Technical ExperienceAllenBradley PLC platformsAutoCAD ElectricalHMI design and developmentManufacturing Execution Systems (MES)Project management experienceProgramming exposure: Visual Basic, C/C++, Python Education & ExperienceBachelors Degree in:Automation EngineeringElectrical EngineeringComputer EngineeringMechatronicsRelated fieldOR3+ years of relevant industry experience in controls, software development, automation, or engineering/IT Work EnvironmentThis role blends officebased engineering with regular onfloor manufacturing work, requiring the ability to:Stand and walk on concrete floorsUse hand tools and test equipmentRead and interpret detailed schematics Qualifications: Allen-Bradley PLC platformsAutoCAD ElectricalHMI design and developmentManufacturing Execution Systems (MES)Project management experienceProgramming exposure: Visual Basic, C/C++, PythonBachelors Degree in:Automation EngineeringElectrical EngineeringComputer EngineeringMechatronicsRelated fieldOR3+ years of relevant industry experience in controls, software development, automation, or engineering/IT Why is This a Great Opportunity: Well known employer with locations across the united states.
