Medical Surgical Float Pool - Travel Registered Nurse- $2020 per week.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers accepted. Minimum 18 months MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner required. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: - Must be away from Baptist for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - Baptist blackout 2026 RTO dates during this assignment: Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1. - Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; NM/EAHN approval required for blackout dates.

Unit Details: - Patient ratios are 1:4-6, typically 1:4. Lower ratios carry expectations for turning patients and assisting with baths and ADLs. - 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgery patients; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, and IV skills. - 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG/NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: all patient types except stroke and MI, plus palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and MS/oncology patients; high-acuity, fast-paced MedSurg. Ratios are 1:4-5. Skills include trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. Telemetry is monitored by tele techs; RNs interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours. - 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; PCA pumps, negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, foleys, and hemovac/JP drains. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg patients; trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, and CVL dressing changes. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling and uses Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: - Float to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
