Licensed Acupuncturist
Location: Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCS) and other Naval Branch Health Clinics associated with NMCSD.
- NMCSD Pain Management Clinic DSS (1 FTE)
Schedule: Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 to 1730 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 to 11-hour shift to include an uncompensated 30 or 60-minute lunch break. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services more than 80 hours per two-week period.
Requirements:
- Must be a graduate from an Oriental Medicine degree program or higher degree program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
- Must possess a current active certification of Diplomate of Acupuncture status from the Active National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
- Must possess at least two years of experience as a full-time Acupuncturist within the preceding five years.
- Must possess and maintain an active, valid, unrestricted license to practice Acupuncture in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Must have an Active BLS Certification
Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform a full range of Acupuncturist duties in accordance with state licensure. All services performed shall fall within those guidelines established by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the policies and procedures of the MTF.
- Confer with patients and take a case history to determine overall mental, physical, and emotional health.
- Keep accurate patient records. Obtain written concurrence for diagnostic and therapeutic acupuncture plans from supervising privileged provider, including medical note co-signature.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team with other health care providers and providing consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
- Work with physicians in a multidisciplinary team to provide drug therapy recommendations, perform polypharmacy management, and provide patient education regarding changes in drug therapy.
- Participate in an on-site designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) tele-mentoring training program.
