Learn more about our benefitsAs a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.Job Summary:As an Installation Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you'll be at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, working directly with customers to install, maintain, and optimize advanced manufacturing equipment. You'll combine hands-on technical troubleshooting with customer partnership to keep critical operations running smoothly. The Install Field Service Engineer I, II, and IV offer a different pay range.Role Responsibilities:Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, hydraulic, plasma, and gas systems.Diagnose equipment issues and implement solutions with support from senior engineers as needed.Build strong customer relationships through effective communication and technical support.Collaborate with customers and internal teams to understand production goals and equipment requirements.Document service activities and provide timely updates to customers and team members.Share technical knowledge and support the development of less-experienced engineers.Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.Minimum Qualifications:Preferred: Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in relevant fieldCompletion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience2-4 years of work experience in semiconductor industry or other equipment support industry (medical device, automotive, aerospace, energy & power, electronics manufacturing)Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamicsStrong knowledge of hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimetersEffective written and verbal communication skillsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointPossession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport, if travel is required.Able to meet all on-site requirements, including safety, environmental guidelinesRequired Education:Minimum of anAssociate's DegreePhysical RequirementsThis role may require:Standing and walking for extended periodsWorking in confined spaces and cleanroom environmentsClimbing ladders and working at heightsLifting and carrying up to 35 poundsUsing hand and power toolsDistinguishing between colors for equipment and wiring identificationWearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including coveralls, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and face shieldsWorking around electrical systems and moderate industrial noiseAdditional InformationTime Type:Full timeEmployee Type:Assignee / RegularTravel:Yes, 75% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
