City of Hope's growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas.
The Pain Management APP provides high-quality, patient-centered care for oncology patients under the supervision of a Pain Management Physician and Interventionalist. This role includes comprehensive pain assessments, inpatient and outpatient follow-up care, development and management of individualized treatment plans, medication and therapy management, patient education, clinical documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The APP serves as a clinical resource and liaison between patients, families, providers, and support services while assisting with care coordination, referrals, and quality improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate:
- Must be available to work a minimum of three shifts per quarter, with additional shifts available based on departmental needs. Schedule includes Monday-Friday hours between 8a-6p.
- Provides comprehensive support for Pain Management patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring continuity of care and serving as a clinical resource for patients, providers, and care teams.
- Collaborates with referring physicians to develop appropriate treatment plans and interventions.
- Enters and manages medication and treatment orders in the EMR in accordance with organizational and regulatory guidelines.
- Completes accurate clinical documentation, including histories and physicals, consults, follow-up visits, patient education, and informed consents.
- Coordinates patient care, improves communication among clinicians, stakeholders, and patients, and supports efficient patient flow.
- Maintains required licensure and certifications while participating in professional development, training, and team initiatives.
- Supports hospital goals, assists with departmental policies and procedures, and performs additional duties as assigned by the supervising physician.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Georgia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- For Nurse Practitioners: National Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- For Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) through NCCPA.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) (if obtained through another provider, AHA certification must be completed within 30 days of hire).
- DEA licensure
- Maintain required continuing medical education (CME) hours and professional certifications as required by the applicable licensing organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred 2 years experience in pain management and/or oncology patient population.
- Oncology certifications such as ONS Certification and/or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) preferred but not required.
