Clinical and Health - Lab Technician

How you will make an impact
Lab Technicians perform biorepository functions for sample handling, storage, retrieval, disposition, and entering information in a laboratory inventory management system. Will also perform specialized services to laboratories, such as sample manipulation, aliquoting, and other handling that may require aseptic technique. Responsible for other aspects of laboratory operations including equipment maintenance and waste handling. Develop your skills by suggesting process improvements and participating in laboratory investigations!


What you will do:
•Receive samples, performing inventory and QC to ensure agreement with manifests
•Follow procedures for handling of samples and entering sample information in a laboratory inventory management system.
•Perform QC/QA to ensure that sample positions within storage boxes are accurate
•Print and apply labels to vials/containers
•Retrieve samples and prepare them for disposition
•Package samples following all regulations to maintain the required thermal conditions
•Respond to unit alarms; transfer samples as required
•Transfer and/or aliquot samples using universal precautions and following biosafety rules


How will you get here?
Education Requirements:
•High school diploma or equivalent required.
•BA/BS degree preferred


Experience:
•Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
•Able to lift 60lb routinely.
