About Us
Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.
FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.
Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).
About the Job
Family Centered Services is looking for a Food Service Kitchen Manager to manage our Food Service team for our residential treatment facility. In this role, a successful candidate will; supervise cooks and prep cooks, coordinate the purchasing and inventory of food items, oversee meal preparation for our youth clients, and be responsible for the overall supervision, direction, coordination and evaluation of the cooks and prep cooks. They will also carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws, including conducting performance appraisals.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide effective leadership as supervisor through communication, team-building, respect and training
2. Coordinate with the Executive Director for purchase of food and supplies
3. Provide necessary receipts and coordinate record-keeping with the Facility Operations Director
4. Preparation of food for the clients
5. Coordinate purchase of Food Bank items
6. Coordinate purchase of commodity items
7. Oversee coordination of food purchases and preparation of food in accordance with menu applications
8. Monitor inventory of food and grocery items
9. Coordinate menu planning and content with other Food Service personnel and/or Facility Manager. Monitor safety regarding food handling, care of equipment, food storage and pest control
10. Maintain high level of HACCP standards and documenting records of food and cooler temperatures.
11. Submit to state monthly the meal count for approved meals served for reimbursement
12. Inventory, track and document all incoming commodity foods and their use
13. Create and manage all meal production records and provide them monthly to Facility Operations Director
14. Continue professional growth by reading, in-service training and participating in seminars, etc.; responsible for completing all mandatory in-services. These include, but may not be limited to, CPR, Dietary Training, First Aid, and Site Based Safety as well as pass the 5 year ServSafe certification for Managers, and complete a minimum twelve (12) hours CE every year thereafter.
Qualifications:
1. High School degree or GED required. Business degree or equivalent food service experience preferred.
