Location: Geismar, Louisiana (On-site at the Manufacturing Plant)

Compensation & Benefits

• Engineers: Base salary range from $165,000 to $200,000 (plus 15% to 22% STIP and Discretionary RSUs).
• Specialists (Non-Engineers): Base salary range from $155,000 to $175,000 (plus 15% to 22% STIP).

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Specialist/Engineer for our Geismar facility. This role is accountable for developing, implementing, and managing the preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all instrumentation, electrical, and analyzer equipment within the site using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will own the process—from troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to driving reliability and continuous improvement initiatives. You will provide essential day‐to‐day operational and maintenance support, serving as a key technical resource to keep the facility operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the I/E Maintenance and Operations Teams with the assessment, implementation, and project management of facility I/E needs.
• Act as the SME to own the process: troubleshooting, RCFA, reliability, ownership, and providing solutions for continuous improvement.
• Generate new and/or update equipment specifications for electrical, instrument, analyzer, and controls equipment based on the results of failure analysis.
• Develop and implement site predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Identify and manage cost-saving opportunities to reduce the site’s fixed and/or variable costs.
• Gather and interpret event reports from electrical relays, instrument diagnostics, DCS, SIS systems, or other software to ascertain the initiating event of related equipment failures.
• Review and approve equipment design, technology, and installation specifications for projects generated by the Capital Improvement (Engineering) Department to ensure best practices.
• Identify, develop, and review critical scope for turnaround jobs and provide field support to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with the Center of Excellence (COE) and Cross-Network Teams to capture and implement reliability learnings.
• Develop and/or modify settings, logic diagrams, loop sheets, specification sheets, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Provide technical assistance to I&E Maintenance Technicians on specialized applications (e.g., diagnosing variable frequency drive issues).
• Sponsor, draft, route, and drive Management of Change (MOC) processes to completion.
• Provide support and approval for I&E Engineering Packages for Maintenance Projects, Bad Actors, and Continuous Improvement efforts.

What We Are Looking For

• Education & Experience:
• • BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) from an accredited university with 8+ years of related engineering experience; OR
  • 14+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and related I&E experience; OR
  • 14+ years of progressive experience in an I&E-related role, preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility.
• Hands-on Expertise: Must have hands-on experience working directly at the plant or in the field with a wide range of electrical, instrumentation, and analyzer equipment.
• Commissioning: Commissioning experience with a strong focus on plant initiatives rather than purely capital projects.
• Technical Mastery: Mastery of basic electrical theory and broad knowledge of instrumentation/analytical technologies. Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical fundamentals in an industrial environment.
• Safety Focus: Strong familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and a commitment to Responsible Care® principles, occupational safety, and environmental stewardship.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem‐solving, RCFA capabilities, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Analytical Skills: Proficiency in PC use, data collection/analysis, and the ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings and specifications.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead I&E projects, mentor developing team members, and facilitate clear communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Information & Working Conditions

• This role requires up to 10% travel .
• This position is eligible for a 9/80 flexible work schedule .
• Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Physical duties include standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting for long periods, some lifting, and climbing ladders within various levels of the units.
• Callouts are a requirement of the role due to 24/7 plant operations.
• Must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear respiratory protective equipment.
• Must provide proof of a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) through the TSA.
