This role ensures critical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.Job DescriptionMaintain, repair, and troubleshoot commercial refrigeration systems, walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and ice machinesPerform preventive maintenance on refrigeration, HVAC, and related mechanical equipmentInstall, replace, and commission refrigeration components and equipment as neededDiagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues and complete repairs in a timely mannerMonitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiencyRespond to emergency equipment failures to minimize operational downtimeMaintain accurate service, repair, and maintenance recordsCoordinate with operations management and outside vendors when necessaryEnsure compliance with food safety, environmental, and operational standardsAddress and resolve maintenance tickets in a timely and efficient mannerDevelop self-help troubleshooting materials and supportive guides for associatesOther duties as assignedRequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent required5-7 years of commercial refrigeration maintenance and repair experience requiredExperience supporting grocery, food production, restaurant, hospitality, or similar commercial environments preferredEPA Section 608 Certification preferredValid driver's license and acceptable driving is requiredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of commercial refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and control systemsAbility to diagnose and repair refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical equipment failuresAbility to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specificationsKnowledge of preventive maintenance practices and equipment reliability standardsProficiency using diagnostic tools, meters, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipmentUnderstanding of applicable food safety, environmental, and workplace safety standardsAbility to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple service requests effectivelyStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and service recordsEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detailBasic Microsoft Office and computer skillsPhysical RequirementsAbility to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basisAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb for extended periodsAbility to climb ladders and work at varying heightsAbility to work in confined spaces and around operating mechanical equipmentAbility to work in varying environmental conditions, including refrigerated, freezer, indoor, outdoor, and high-temperature kitchen environmentsAbility to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workdayAbility to respond to emergency service calls outside normal business hours as neededAbility to safely operate tools, testing equipment, and other maintenance devicesAdherence to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) standardsAbility to recognize hazards and maintain a safe working environment for employees, customers, and contractorsAvailability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as business needs require
