Service Deli ClerkThe NOTC Clerk is accountable for delivering G.O.A.T. (Greet, Observe, Assist, Thank) service to our customers. This position is responsible for providing exceptional over-the-counter customer service while supporting all daily operations within the Service Deli and Bakery departments. Responsibilities include preparing and packaging deli or bakery items, maintaining product quality and presentation, and ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are met. This role plays a key part in creating a positive shopping experience by delivering prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service. For a graveyard shift NOTC Clerk, responsibilities include stocking products, preparing displays for the following day, and ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and ready for opening.Job Responsibilities:Provide friendly, helpful service while maintaining a professional demeanor and enhancing the customer's shopping experience (G.O.A.T)Handle customer concerns or complaints politely and professionally, and escalate to upper management when necessaryService Deli Responsibilities:Provide excellent over-the-counter customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and fulfilling product requestsPrepare deli items such as sandwiches, salads, and hot case offerings, following established recipes and portion guidelinesSlice, weigh, package, and label deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods according to customer specificationsStock, rotate, and merchandise service deli products in display cases to ensure freshness and appealMonitor product expiration dates and remove outdated or unsellable items as neededTake and fulfill special orders for party trays and catering requestsAssist with inventory control by accurately recording waste, transfers, and markdownsOperate deli equipment such as slicers, ovens, fryers, and scales safely and appropriatelyMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, including equipment, counters, and display casesParticipate in regular cleaning schedules and deep-cleaning tasks as assignedBakery Responsibilities:Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service at the bakery counter, assisting with product selection, and taking customer ordersBaking preparation to meet production goals when making bakery itemsAssemble and decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other bakery items; along with custom order preparation by following design specificationsEnsure decorated items meet quality and presentation standardsPackage and label bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and cookies following store quality standardsMaintain attractive, clean, and well-stocked bakery display cases to ensure products are presented in an appealing mannerRegularly check and restock bakery items on the sales floor, ensuring freshness and proper rotation; check items for freshness and remove expired productsMonitor inventory and communicate any stock shortages or waste to managementSafely operate ovens and other baking equipment while monitoring bake times and product qualityFollow all food safety, sanitation, and quality control procedures as required by store policy and health regulationsStock Crew Responsibilities:Unload and break down pallets efficiently and safelyStock shelves accurately, ensuring products are neatly arranged and fully stockedPerform product rotation by checking expiration dates and placing older items in frontMaintain cleanliness and organization of stock and sales floor areasPrepare the store for the next day by ensuring displays and shelves are orderly and customer-readyReport any inventory shortages, damages, or discrepancies to managementOther Responsibilities:Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer experienceAdhere to all store policies and local health regulations for safe food preparation, temperature control, and storageMay be assigned to work in Grocery or Produce departments based on operational needs, which includes merchandising grocery items and providing support to either department as neededAll other related duties as required and assignedRequirements / Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma is preferred but not requiredA valid Food Handler / Health Card (for fresh departments)Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasksFriendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and service at all timeAbility to work well within the team and follow direction with a good attitudeExcellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers and other teammatesBasic math and reading skills for handling recipes, pricing, labels, equipment, and inventoryGood problem-solving abilities and attention to detailAbility to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weightsAbility to operate equipment safely and efficientlyBasic knowledge of cake and cupcake decorating is a plus (training can be provided)Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysMust maintain a sense of integrity and adhere to all store policies and procedures, including safety standards and the collective bargaining agreementJoin our team and make a difference.
