Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: - Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. - Must have heparin gtt experience.

Special Requests: - Tries to meet scheduling requests; block scheduling may be possible with staffing.

Unit Details: - Common patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, and some medical overflow. - Nurse-patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6. - RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT. - House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Phillips monitors. - High flow for stable COVID patients only (very rare). - Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7; the charge nurse does not take an assignment unless short staffing would otherwise put nurses above ratios.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts. - Holiday requirement: every other. - No call or standby requirement.

Floating Requirements: - Floats in rotation with the rest of staff. - General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. - If floated outside the general unit in urgent need, assignments will be limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform and paired with a nurse trained for that unit.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

1 reference required from within the last 3 years

Driver’s license required for submission
