Restaurant Server

Dining Server PositionServers are on the forefront of resident interaction with the dining program for the community. From daily operations of the restaurant and bar to catering and special events. This is a position for an individual who routinely exercises good judgment and exceptional problem-solving skills. As the face of the dining experience, maintaining positivity and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment is critical while maintaining standards and authentically delivering on our Values and Global Service Standards.Your Responsibilities:Prepare restaurant for lunch / dining by setting decorations, condiments, napkins and utensilsProtect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policiesMust be able to explain the chef's specialties; identify appropriate wines; answer food preparation questionsStay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording resident choices, identifying Resident special dietary needs and special requestsServe orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from bar and kitchen; deliver accompaniments and condiments from service barsRespond to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs, observing dining processMaintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needsProperly open and pour wine at the tablesideObtain revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; returning credit card and signature slip to ResidentContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededPerform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisorBe willing to fill in for absent staff as neededAssist with special events as neededAdhere to grooming and appearance standards consistentlyPromptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessaryAlways maintain a pristine dining areaAdditional Duties:Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards.Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct.Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.Skills & Qualifications:GED or High School Diploma preferredPrevious serving experience requiredAt least 1-year experience as a bartender/serverFood Handlers CardMust be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidaysSuperior customer service skills / guest service focusedPositive attitude and friendly personality are essentialAbility to represent the restaurant with a professional imageExcellent communication skills, both in person, through emails, and over the phoneExcellent time management skills and multitasking abilityProgressive people management skillsPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
