Quality Control Analyst

Job Summary The Quality Control Analyst will assure a consistent and quality product. This individual will control the cement manufacturing process by testing, reporting, and directing plant personnel to maintain quality and uniformity throughout the process, from raw material to the finished product. This position will require a rotating schedule, including off-shifts such as swing, graveyard, and weekends. Compensation $34.87 to $36.87 plus shift and weekend differential pay Responsibilities Help maintain and troubleshoot automated Gamma Metrics Ramos PGNAA Data entry and manipulation, run applications, software maintenance, and general troubleshooting of computers Use chemical and physical methods to prepare and analyze all samples with a high degree of accuracy and precision Maintain communications and issue orders and memoranda to plant personnel to ensure compliance with quality control and uniformity parameters Create new or modify existing analytical procedures as required to facilitate improvement or optimization of process control and preventative maintenance knowledge Assist Q.C. Supervisor in monitoring and ordering laboratory supplies, performing monthly inventories, and performing other duties as assigned Maintain, monitor, and calibrate equipment to comply with all specifications Education High school diploma/GED Requirements/Qualifications Strong verbal communication skills customer service orientation Must pass a written laboratory exam Proficient at reading, writing, math, and operational logic Computer proficiency Ability to work under pressure and handle a variety of details Ability to produce accurate and timely statistics Ability to comply with all plant, company, and MSHA safety rules and regulations Ability to: Sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground) Must be able to lift and carry items up to 70 lbs. Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop and crawl under and into enclosed spaces Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require the use of hearing protection Must be able to work rotating shifts and some overtime when required Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, and various chemicals Preferred: A college degree is a plus, preferably in chemistry or a related field, with a strong background in computers Cement plant lab experience Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. #J-18808-Ljbffr CalPortland
