Automation Engineer

Salary: $93,000 - 133,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a Bachelors degree in Engineering.
• We value 5–7 years of experience across process control systems, including instrumentation, automated control, and electrical distribution, ideally in the chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industries.
• Experience with Microsoft-based network and system administration, Visual Basic, and SQL is preferred.
• We are seeking experience programming and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Modicon, and Siemens S7 PLCs is preferred.
• Experience configuring and programming Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, with Wonderware exposure preferred, is valued.
• We need strong computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.
• We are looking for someone who can manage multiple projects and activities at the same time.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills are important, including the ability to present to different levels across the organization.
• We value the ability to use analytical thinking to identify issues, evaluate symptoms and root causes, consider alternatives, and make timely decisions under uncertainty.

• We troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems to resolve moderately complex equipment issues.
• We provide engineering expertise and technical guidance to maintenance teams for repairs, design changes, and other corrective actions identified through troubleshooting or performance reviews.
• We partner with the Engineering lead to support the design, specification, installation, startup, and validation of process control, electrical, and instrumentation systems for capital and upgrade projects.
• We ensure site specifications, standards, and cGMP expectations are met and that sound engineering practices are followed.
• We coordinate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to deliver complete and timely design and implementation.
• We lead mid-level complexity group projects, developing and championing creative solutions that demonstrate business value.
• We monitor and communicate progress across the assigned project portfolio to meet scope, schedule, and budget goals.
• We maintain system control by keeping as-built drawings, system documentation, and EX rating management current.
• We work with Operations to define process control requirements, develop control strategies, and implement solutions.
• We identify continuous improvement opportunities for plant automation control systems and drive solutions aligned with site and department metrics, business objectives, and strategy.
• We look for ways to improve equipment and component reliability.
• We research emerging technologies and procedures in automation and controls to improve support-area processes.
• We analyze, compare, and select equipment best suited to different applications.
• We support standards development and master planning activities.
• We develop calibration, preventive maintenance, and other procedures for installed systems and instruments.
• We provide training and technical supervision to instrumentation and electrical personnel, as well as Flow technicians, for automation control systems in support areas.
• We also perform other assigned duties, including promoting internal communication and knowledge sharing to improve operational effectiveness and consistency.
