Supervising Sterile Processing Technician

The Job Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for a Supervising Sterile Processing Technician who supervises staff and operations involved in receiving, storing and issuing sterilization of supplies and equipment. Duties also include assisting with developing standards and ensuring the clean, safe, efficient and effective instrument and equipment distribution and availability, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician develops and implements process improvement initiatives, assigns and reviews work, directs workflow, approves time off, evaluates performance, and provides staff training and education. Conditions of Employment Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes drug testing, fingerprinting, and verification of employment history. Availability: Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, night shift, weekend, on-call and call-back. Physical requirements: Good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; ability to work above and below shoulder level; use foot controls; ability to move up to 50 lbs. manually or with assistance. Environment: Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors. Minimum Requirements Three (3) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician operating sterilizing equipment and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment in an acute care hospital. Possess certification as a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any one of the following: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA); Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST); Association of Surgical Technologists (AST); Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) (only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency). Desired Qualifications Candidates with lead worker or supervisory experience in sterile processing are highly desired.
