Farm Maintenance Lead

Opal Foods is accepting applications for the position of Farm Maintenance Lead for our Layer Farm in Hudson, CO. The position is a hands-on working position that supervises maintenance techs and performs upkeep, maintenance, and repair of production equipment/facilities and conducts maintenance planning duties for the assigned facility while ensuring compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations. This position will work in the laying hen houses and must be able to work in a farm/live animal environment. This position will also assist the Production Manager with other projects and duties as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

• Maintain and follow preventative maintenance program for all machines, fans, belts, motors, chains, feeders, augurs, etc. related to production
• Take a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down time
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
• Assign tasks to maintenance technicians and provide overall guidance
• Ensure production maintenance techs are performing their duties, and that all production equipment is working properly
• Maintain records for preventative maintenance, fire protection equipment, etc.
• Ensure the maintenance team follows the preventative maintenance program and record keeping
• Be available/reachable for emergencies 24/7
• Maintain building and facility maintenance throughout the year
• Order parts and help maintain and manage spare parts inventory
• Oversee manure belt maintenance program and schedule
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:

• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform duties
• Fast paced work environment
• Lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis
• Bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb
• Work in a general farm environment around live animals

Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)

• Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and troubleshooting
• Previous experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairing industrial processing equipment
• Demonstrates the ability to lead others
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English
• Organized and detail oriented
• Must be available 24/7 (able to be reached/on call) if not able to do this for a period of time this must be communicated with your Production Manager

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in maintenance related roles
• Able to communicate in both English and Spanish
