Automotive Bus Mechanic Assistant 26/27 SY

Bus Mechanic
Under close supervision, assists with routine maintenance of buses, vehicles and mechanical equipment for the safe transportation of students and staff for Sunnyside Unified School District.
Assists with maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles and equipment; replaces tires and assists with oil changes; responds to bus breakdowns in-field and returns buses for maintenance and repair; picks up and returns vehicle parts and accessories for maintenance and repair; and performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of District policies and procedures. Knowledge of maintenance and repair on vehicles, buses and mechanical equipment. Skill in maintaining a safe working environment. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, walking, standing, sitting, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving or dangerous equipment, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals and infectious diseases.
High School Diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year mechanical or machinery-related work experience. Must possess an Arizona driver license with class B CDL certification. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
