About Storyland:
We help kids aged 6-15 develop a genuine love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. This is not a textbook or drill-heavy English teaching job. This position legally requires proof of two consecutive years of full-time, non-teaching work experience. Please apply only if you can provide this. What you'll do:
- Lead small-group workshops using picture books, chapter books, and novels
- Blend reading, discussion, games, and creative projects into every session
- Guide students to explore emotions, values, and big ideas through stories
- Teach grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis through meaningful texts
- Coach healthy reading habits during library time
- Collaborate closely with a supportive team of local and international colleagues
- Design and pitch new short workshops for summer/winter terms
- Attend weekly team meetings Schedule and details:
- Wed - Sun during semesters; shifts to Mon - Fri for winter/summer intensives.
- Flexible work-from-home hours for lesson planning after your first semester.
- Proprietary curriculum across 11 progressive levels
- In-house library
- Max 8 students per class
- Beautiful facilities in the heart of the Former French Concession Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of postgraduate work experience (transferable skills welcome)
- Native-level English
- Genuine interest in children and literature
- Teaching experience
- Cultural sensitivity - ability to adapt to and work respectfully within Chinese culture and in a multinational and multicultural team
- Eligibility and willingness to relocate to Shanghai for at least 2 years Preferred:
- Experience with ages 6-15
- TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or teaching license
- Background in literature, theatre, humanities, youth work, or education Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: 22,500 RMB/month
- Performance bonus (based on class feedback)

- Paid leave: 7 days + fixed holidays + public holidays
