Produce Associate

Overview As a member of the SpartanNash family, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods, including fresh produce, to locations across the United States. The team serves national accounts, independent and chain grocers, e-commerce retailers, U.S. military commissaries and exchanges, and the company’s own stores and facilities. Location: 3420 E. Market Street - Logansport, Indiana 46947 Position Summary: This role maintains and operates the produce department, including trimming and preparation of merchandise according to company and department standards, and ensures the work shift contributes to the store’s financial goals. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Responsibilities Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed; follow procedures for culling, trimming, and storing product. Weigh, package, and label products. Handle spoiled or damaged products per established guidelines. Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays; assist with unloading deliveries and stacking product in coolers. Notify the Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered. Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers. Maintain familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, and use. Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments. Follow all PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning expectations. Follow guest experience guidelines. May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Requirements High School Diploma (GED) preferred One year of retail or related experience preferred Ability to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that impair performance Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents Basic mathematical skills Detail-oriented Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform essential functions. May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; may bend, stoop, twist, and turn. Work environment includes varied temperatures and outside conditions; noise level is typically low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
