Location: Machias, ME

Shift Information: Rotating - 3 days x 12 hours
Contract Duration: 26 Weeks

About the Position

• Perform laboratory testing in areas including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
• Perform venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary punctures as appropriate.
• Process and prepare patient specimens according to established protocols.
• Calibrate, standardize, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and supplies.
• Validate and accurately report laboratory test results in a timely manner.
• Assist with laboratory policy, procedure development, and quality improvement activities.
• Assist with orientation and training of students and new employees.
• Follow laboratory safety, infection-control, biohazard, and blood-borne pathogen protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow privacy and security policies.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Current MLT/MT certification or certification-eligible status required.
• National certification through AMT or ASCP preferred/required as applicable.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, procedures, equipment, and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
