Referral Management Center Specialist

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Referral Management Center Specialist to support our healthcare team at a Military Treatment Facility (MTF). The ideal candidate will provide professional customer service while assisting patients and staff with referral and appointment coordination.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

• Answering incoming calls and assisting patients and staff with referral-related questions.
• Reviewing and processing referrals for completeness and eligibility.
• Scheduling and rescheduling specialty appointments according to MTF guidelines.
• Processing routine, urgent, and emergent referrals within established timeframes.
• Coordinating referrals with outside providers or insurance when services are not available at the MTF.
• Maintaining accurate referral documentation in MHS GENESIS and other required systems.
• Educating patients on referral procedures, appointments, and expected timelines.
• Providing professional and courteous customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position are:

• US Citizen.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• One (1) year of administrative experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting. Referral management, medical scheduling, patient administration, or insurance verification preferred.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency and keyboarding sufficient to sustain electronic health record workflow.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation, a Common Access Card, and MTF-specific badge and system access.
• Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA or Red Cross) where required by the supported MTF, plus HIPAA, Privacy Act, information assurance, and MTF-directed initial and annual training.

Additional Information

Additional requirements include:

• Must pass TB Test.
• Subject to a background/security investigation.
• Willingness to comply with DHA vaccination requirements.
• Pre-employment drug screening.
• Contract workers shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.
