Boat Mechanic / Marine Technician - Pay Based Upon Experience
We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and hands-on Boat Mechanic to join our team.
The primary responsibility of this position will be maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing our boats. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands marine motors and electrical systems and takes pride in doing quality work.
The right person will be able to organize and manage their own workload , identify problems, complete repairs efficiently, and make sure our boats are ready to perform reliably.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and servicing on boats and marine motors
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
- Work with boat wiring, batteries, charging systems, starters, gauges, and other electrical components
- Prepare boats for use and ensure they are operating properly and safely
- Test and troubleshoot boats on the lake
- Safely operate boats during testing and troubleshooting
- Drive a truck and boat trailer as needed
- Safely launch and retrieve boats from the water
- Keep tools, equipment, boats, and work areas organized
- Manage day-to-day work with a reasonable degree of independence
- Identify issues and communicate when additional parts, repairs, or outside expertise may be needed
- Follow proper safety procedures and take responsibility for the equipment entrusted to you
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of marine engines and mechanical systems
- Good understanding of 12V electrical systems and marine electrical components
- Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems
- Experience working on boats or marine engines is strongly preferred
- Comfortable towing and maneuvering a boat trailer
- Able to confidently launch and retrieve boats
- Comfortable operating a boat on a lake for testing purposes
- Able to work independently and organize your own work
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Marine certifications are not required
- Advanced engine diagnostic/software experience is not required ; the ability to understand the fundamentals and troubleshoot problems is more important
