Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend and some holidays. Four 12-hour shifts available for interested candidates. Block scheduling available to accommodate preferences.

• Float across multiple ICU specialties including Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Life Center, Medical-Surgical ICU, and Intermediate Care/Progressive Care units
• Epic charting system with 28 hours of orientation provided
• 3:1 patient ratio for both day and night shifts
• Academic teaching environment with opportunities for professional growth and shared governance participation
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more

Requirements:

• Wisconsin RN license or multistate compact license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience with at least 2 years of acute care experience in critical care within the last 3 years
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Competency in multiple ICU specialty areas required
• Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% identification of lethal rhythms)
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility

Clinical Skills Required:

• Advanced arrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, CVP, and pulmonary artery catheters
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip titration
• CRRT/CVVHD (Nextstage)
• Central line and PICC line management
• Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Post-cardiac surgery and post-neurosurgery care
• Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury management
• BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula management
• Familiarity with specialized equipment: IABP, Impella, ECMO, external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring
