Branch ManagerOur client, a well-established international freight forwarder and customs broker, is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead and grow its Portland operation. This is more than an operational leadership role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall commercial, operational, and financial performance of the branch, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, developing strategic customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence. The Branch Manager will have full P&L responsibility while leading and developing the branch team across international freight forwarding and customs brokerage operations. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who understands how to build a profitable logistics business through strong customer relationships, employee development, commercial strategy, and disciplined financial management.Key ResponsibilitiesAssume full ownership of the branch's financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.Develop and execute the branch's commercial strategy, identifying opportunities to increase market share and expand existing and new customer relationships.Drive new business development while supporting the retention, development, and growth of existing accounts.Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers, carriers, overseas partners, vendors, and other logistics stakeholders.Lead, mentor, and develop the branch team, fostering a high-performance, customer-focused culture built around accountability and continuous improvement.Oversee day-to-day branch operations across international freight forwarding and customs brokerage, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.Monitor key financial and operational performance metrics and implement initiatives designed to improve profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction.Work closely with executive leadership to develop business plans, revenue objectives, sales strategies, and operational goals.Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance the overall customer experience.Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers and commercial opportunities within the Portland market.Leverage knowledge of the local logistics market to identify opportunities across international air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, and related logistics services.Establish a strong presence within the Portland logistics community through customer engagement, industry events, networking, and business development activities.Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.QualificationsDemonstrated leadership experience within the international freight forwarding, logistics, and/or customs brokerage industry.Proven ability to manage a branch, station, department, or business unit with significant operational and financial responsibility.Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and develop strategic customer relationships.Proven success developing new business and growing existing customer accounts.Experience leading, managing, or partnering closely with sales and business development teams.Comprehensive knowledge of international freight forwarding, including air freight, ocean freight, and customs brokerage.Strong understanding of the Portland logistics market and local customer base is highly preferred.Existing relationships within the Portland logistics, manufacturing, retail, or import/export community are a plus.Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, financial management, and relationship-building skills.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance operational execution with commercial strategy.Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use financial and operational data to drive business decisions.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary.Performance-based bonus.Car allowance.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan.Opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing organization where your commercial leadership, customer relationships, and business development efforts will directly influence the success of the Portland operation.
