FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist provides support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for identifying students with communication disorders; recommending, planning, and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success. This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Terms of Employment:
Length of work year: 8 hours per day/ 5 days per week; 187 work days

FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist provides support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for identifying students with communication disorders; recommending, planning, and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success. What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities) Compliance, Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential electronic and manual files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines
- Complete all required forms for Medicaid billing, including therapy logs and progress reports within required timelines.
- Update and submit Caseload Summary report monthly with logs.
- Submit required paperwork to the Speech/Language office for review.
- Compile year-end data and complete all required year-end forms.
- Assesses and evaluates students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, fluency, voice, expressive, and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility, and developing recommendations for treatment.
- Determine and use professionally sound procedures for referrals, identification, diagnosis, caseload selection, case termination, and follow-up in accordance with the Exceptional Education Department handbook.
- Provides direct and indirect speech and language services to students for the purpose of implementing treatments in compliance with goals and objectives.
- Assume responsibility for securing written parental permission for consents as mandated by IDEA.
- Develop and implement an IEP for each student within required timelines.
- Ensure that student IEPs are implemented exactly as written.
- Establish daily schedules for assigned students based on the service minutes in their IEP.
- Complete quarterly progress reports for each student and provide to parents during conferences or mail with grade cards.
- Utilize coordination time for professional responsibilities such as:
- Developing and updating therapy plans
- Holding parent conferences
- Conducting staff consultations
- Performing classroom observations
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related degree.
- Demonstrated experience providing speech-language pathology services to students grades K-9. Experience may be gained during post-secondary degree program.
- Missouri Board of Healing Arts Licensure or Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association.
